BIG W Website Re-design
As part of BIG W’s transformation into being a leading digital retailer a new front end system was adopted that presented an opportunity to achieve a step change in website design, aesthetics and functionality.
Working closely with the UX Design Manager and another digital designer we undertook extensive competitor research and developed a new visual system for the BIG W website. I developed a range of components that were able to communicate a form of stortytelling - that is a combination of value and inspiration - move to a more fun and vibrant look and feel, align to our new brand guidelines while simplifying content for customers to be able to move freely through the website.
I was also in charge of co-ordinating and managing the transition to the new website over a number of months including:
Development of branding / website guidelines for all of marketing
Building of all page templates and components
Building of design system in XD and training for all the design team
Roll out of updated content and approvals across 200+ pages
Each component is built to adapt to different types of content- being able to integrate lifestyle photography with product tiles or to group content into a theme that can easily be integrated into different pages.
